What we believe

We believe:

  • That God is bigger and better and closer than we can ever imagine.
  • That the Bible is God making himself and his purposes known to us in written word.
  • That Jesus the Christ, through his birth, life, death and resurrection, is God coming amongst and showing himself to us - fully God and fully human.
  • That evil is a reality which we all experience - our sin separating us from Father God and his perfect intentions for us.
  • That Jesus, by his death on the cross, voluntarily took upon himself the penalty and punishment that our sinful wrongdoing and rebellion rightfully deserves.
  • That God, in Jesus, invites us to receive this work of grace as a free gift, to make its sin-payment ours, to accept the forgiveness and restored relationship with himself that it earns, and to enjoy his presence for ever - but gives us the freedom to reject his invitation.
  • That the Holy Spirit of God abides and works in the lives of all who accept this invitation, bringing new life and direction in place of the old.
  • That the church exists to serve the world and fulfil God's purposes.
