The Meaning of Prayer, by Mercedes E.Gregor-Bennett
1 Thessalonians 5:17-18 Pray continually; give thanks in all circumstances, for this is
the will of God for you in Jesus Christ.
THE MEANING OF PRAYER
When I pray it is like ringing the door bell of heaven,
and to open with the key of faith and receive
God’s overflowing wonders!
It is talking to God, even silently,
when my soul whispers things I don’t hear,
telling God my needs .
Prayer is asking the Lord’s mercy upon my life
because only Jesus has the Power to calm the storms
in my life, since even the winds obey Him!
To pray is to look forward for
great changes and miracles to happen,
because God is faithful to His promises.
It is asking Him to dry my tears
with the sunshine of His love, because I know He listens to
prayer and can make my burdens lighter.
To pray is to accept as given, the unseen
things I hope for, and it is feeling
my broken heart whole again in Christ
When my heart is troubled,
I must remember again, to pray, because no one else
can help me but my Heavenly Father.
After prayer, I can see all around me
changes, and often, God reaches out to bless me
through an encouraging friend.
And again I pray with gratitude
to give thanks for the undeserved mercies,
knowing the Lord is always there for me.
When I pray, I know, wonderful things will happen
also in the lives of the people I pray for,
and we all may rejoice in God’s answered prayers!
